I couldn’t agree more.

In the (long forgotten) age of Bulletin Board Systems (BBS), discussion forums were typically moderated and abusive users were bluntly kicked out of the system. It’s faschinating that there are still a few things we could learn from the old BBS era.

However, I hope making tech more human does not end up imposing excessive regulation or other sorts of formal requirements that would make it too costly to run smaller systems. This would effectively allow big platforms such as FB to monopolize web discussions (indeed, I would not be surprised if FB and others would start to lobby for such regulation;). I see this as a genuine threat.
